Injured Washington Sundar out of series, Ayush Badoni gets chance in ODI

Washington Sundar, who got injured in the first ODI against New Zealand, is now out of the entire series. Now Delhi’s Ayush Badoni has got a chance in his place. He will soon join the Indian team and it is possible that he may also be seen playing in at least one ODI match. Ayush Badoni, who has been making waves in domestic cricket and Indian Premier League (IPL) till now, has been selected for the Indian team for the first time, that is, till now he has not played a single international match for India.

During the first match, when Washington Sundar was bowling, he felt pain and could not bowl the full 10 overs. However, when the Indian team needed him to bat, he came out to bat. He stood with KL Rahul till the end and remained not out after scoring 7 runs on 7 balls. However, now he is out of the team for Rajkot ODI and this entire series and Ayush Badoni has been called in his place.

Why only Ayush Badoni?

The reason why Ayush Badoni was selected to replace Washington Sundar is that both are similar players. Both are lower order batsmen and bowl off-breaks. His average in List A is 36.47. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he took 4 wickets at an average of 19.75 and an economy of 3.59.
