Mumbai: The teaser of superstar Yash’s upcoming film ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups’ has come into controversy as soon as it was released. This teaser was launched on 8 January 2026 on the occasion of Yash’s 40th birthday, after which the women’s wing of Aam Aadmi Party has targeted it. The AAP women’s wing has filed a formal complaint with the Karnataka State Women’s Commission, alleging ‘obscene visuals’ in the teaser.

Yash’s ‘Toxic’ teaser in controversy

AAP has said in its complaint that some of the scenes shown in the teaser can have a negative impact on the welfare of women and children and harm the values of Kannada culture. The party has demanded that the state government be directed to immediately withdraw the teaser or cancel it. Along with this, an appeal has also been made to remove it from social media platforms. AAP leaders say visual content on public platforms should be presented with cultural sensitivity, to ensure the safety of vulnerable sections of the society.

AAP state secretary Usha Mohan said that the teaser has no age restriction or content warning, which threatens the dignity of women and may expose children to inappropriate content. He has called for immediate action. In the teaser, Yash is seen as a gangster, Raya. The atmosphere of the film is dark and violent, with an intimate moment in a car near a graveyard followed by an explosion scene in which Yash comes out shirtless with a gun. Some scenes have been described as “objectifying” and “obscene” on social media, triggering a backlash. However, many fans have called it artistic and bold.

The film will be released on 19 March 2026

The film’s director Geetu Mohandas has also reacted to the backlash and discussed ‘female pleasure’ and the film’s theme on Instagram. This action-thriller stars Yash along with many renowned actors like Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. The film will be released in theaters on March 19, 2026, coinciding with festivals like Ugadi, Gudi Padwa and Eid. The film has been shot in Kannada and English, and will also have Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam dubbed versions. This controversy may affect Yash’s image after the KGF series, but fans are still excited about it.
