IND vs NZ: After the victory, Team India got a big shock, another star player out for the entire series.
Washington Sundar ruled out of ODI series: After the victory in Vadodara ODI, the Indian team has suffered a big blow. The team’s star all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the ODI series against New Zealand due to a rib injury. 26 year old Sundar had given 27 runs in five overs. He walked off the field midway through New Zealand’s innings and did not return to fielding on Sunday. Despite the discomfort, he later came in to bat at number 8 and India won by four wickets.

“Washington has been ruled out of the series due to a problem in his lower left rib,” a BCCI official told PTI. Sundar is the second Indian player to be ruled out of the New Zealand ODI series at home due to injury. Earlier, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was injured while taking a throwdown during net practice. After the match on Sunday, team captain Shubman Gill had confirmed Sundar’s injury in the press conference. 26 year old Sundar, while bowling in this match, gave 27 runs in 5 overs. He felt a strain in his ribs during New Zealand’s innings, after which he left the field and did not return to fielding.
In the post-match press conference, when Harshit Rana was asked about Sundar’s injury, he said: “Washington has a side strain.” Sundar’s injury is a bit more of a worry for Team India as he is part of India’s 2026 T20 World Cup squad and the tournament is now less than a month away. Wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel has been selected in place of Pant, while BCCI may soon announce the name of another player in place of Sundar.
