IMD Weather Alert: Thunderstorm in Delhi-NCR; Yellow alert for cold in these states, mercury below zero in Rajasthan

IMD Weather Alert : New Delhi : This year, a strong blast of cold is felt. The mercury of each state has been single digit. Capital Delhi (Delhi Weather) is literally frozen. The whole of North India including Delhi-NCR is experiencing severe cold. The IMD has issued a dense to very dense fog warning for Punjab, Jammu and North Haryana, North West Uttar Pradesh and South Uttarakhand on January 13. Amritsar Airport and Jammu Airport in dense fog (Weather Today) is likely to be lost.
Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh and Uttarakhand are currently under cold spell. As for Rajasthan, temperatures have dipped below freezing in many districts. Fatehpur recorded a minimum temperature of minus 0.4 degrees, while Churu recorded 1.3 degrees. At present, the Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility that the cold wave will continue. Due to this, many states have been given yellow alert for cold. It is also advised to keep a safe distance while driving due to the increased amount of fog.

Severe cold in Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan
Some states in North India have sunny weather during the day, but are extremely cold during the late night and early morning hours. Gurugram, adjacent to Delhi, and Bathinda in Punjab recorded temperatures as low as 0.6 degrees Celsius. Frost and dense fog persist in many areas. Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund (IMD) has issued a haze warning for Punjab, Jammu and North Haryana, North West Uttar Pradesh and South Uttarakhand. Heavy rains have increased in Rajasthan and the temperature has dropped below zero at night.
Some relief in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh
In many districts of Bihar, there has been a slight reduction in cold due to summer. The situation is expected to remain the same for the next five days. However, it is indicated that the cold effect will increase towards evening. However, a Western Disturbance may become active around January 17, which may intensify the cold. The Meteorological Department has advised people to dress warmly, protect themselves from the cold and take precautions when travelling. According to the Meteorological Department, the cold weather will continue for the next few days, after which some relief is expected.

Snow forecast in Himachal Pradesh
Himachal Pradesh has not yet received rain or snowfall this winter. It has snowed very sporadically. This has affected the life and tourism. Snowfall is down 96 percent in November and 88 percent so far in January. This is having a negative impact on farmers, horticulturists and tourism. Lack of snowfall is preventing people from traveling to Himachal Pradesh. At present, light snowfall is expected in higher elevations between January 16 and 19. But still waiting.
