Passenger vehicle sales to grow 27 percent year-on-year in December 2025: SIAM
New Delhi. Wholesale sales of passenger vehicles are expected to increase by 27 percent year-on-year in December 2025 on the back of strong demand for utility vehicles.
Industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said in a statement on Tuesday that total sales of passenger vehicles in December stood at 3,99,216 units, which is 26.8 per cent higher than 3,14,934 units in December 2024.
According to SIAM, wholesale sales of two-wheelers in the month of December increased by 39 percent to 15,41,036 units as compared to 11,05,565 units on an annual basis. At the same time, total sales of three-wheelers have been 61,924 units, which is 17 percent more than 52,733 units in December 2024.
On the sales outlook, SIAM said the automobile industry is entering Q4FY2025-26 with strong momentum as all vehicle segments recorded strong double-digit growth at the end of 2025. Steady growth in wholesale and retail vehicle sales volumes is expected during the fourth quarter.
“Keeping an eye on geopolitical developments, the industry body expects FY 2025-26 to end with positive growth,” the industry body said. “This will continue to be driven by strong policy support factors which will help maintain the strong performance of recent years.”
