Central government’s strictness on 10-minute delivery, said- time limit should be removed keeping in mind the safety of workers
The Central Government has taken a strict decision on the 10-minute delivery claim and has advised quick commerce platforms to remove the time limit for delivery keeping in mind the safety of gig workers. According to the information, Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya held a meeting with officials of Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy and Zomato on Tuesday and advised them to remove the strict delivery time limit keeping in mind the safety of gig workers.
Companies have also advised the government to remove the delivery time limit from their advertisements and social media platforms. Following the advice of the Union Minister, Blinkit has taken immediate steps to remove the 10-minute delivery claim from its brand platform. This means that the company will no longer fix a 10-minute timeline for delivery.
In recent times, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has been continuously highlighting the challenges faced by delivery partners. On Monday, Chadha shared a video on social media, in which he is seen spending a day as a delivery partner on the streets of the capital. He made this video to express solidarity with gig workers.
After Corona, 10-minute delivery i.e. quick commerce has become increasingly popular. In this, the platforms open darkstores in different areas of the city and complete the delivery through their online platform through riders. At present, big players like Blinkit, Zepto, BigBasket, Flipkart and Swiggy are working in this sector.
Quick commerce is quite different from traditional commerce. In traditional commerce, it takes several days to deliver products, whereas in quick commerce, this work is done within a few minutes. Recently, on the occasion of New Year, Quick Commerce delivery partners went on strike due to difficult working conditions, low wages and hostile environment.
