Haryana: Haryana Government’s big order regarding the words Harijan and Girijan, this notification issued

Haryana News: Haryana Government has instructed all the departments not to use words like “Harijan” and “Girijan” in the context of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in government correspondence and other official works.

It has been clarified in these instructions that these words have not been used for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the Constitution of India and only the terminology of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes mentioned in the Constitution should be used in all official works.

It has come to the notice of the Government that despite the instructions issued earlier, the words “Harijan” and “Girijan” are still being used by some departments. Taking cognizance of this, the state government has instructed all departments to strictly follow the instructions of the Central Government and stop using these words in all official matters with immediate effect.
