Will the lotus bloom amidst the red flags? Shah’s strategy for Kerala elections which has already increased the tension of the opponents
News India Live, Digital Desk: Opening the doors of South India has always been a big challenge for the Bharatiya Janata Party, and in this too ‘Kerala’ is a state where for years the contest has been limited to only two forces, Left (LDF) and Congress (UDF). But the victory of Suresh Gopi on Thrissur seat in the recent Lok Sabha elections has taken the confidence of BJP to the seventh sky. Now Amit Shah, who himself is called ‘Chanakya’, has taken the lead for the 2026 assembly elections. After all, what is Amit Shah’s master plan? Although the path of Kerala is not so easy, but Shah’s strategy seems to be different this time. Shah knows that it is not possible to win Kerala with the help of Hindu votes alone. That is why BJP is now trying to strengthen its hold among the Christian community of Kerala. The increasing closeness of party leaders to the Church and Christian religious leaders in the last few months is a part of this ‘silent mission’. Daavshah’s second major focus on local faces is on local leadership. It has often been alleged that BJP appears to be a ‘Delhi-led’ party in Kerala. But now they are bringing forward such local faces who understand the language and issues of the local soil. The victory of Suresh Gopi has proved that if the face is strong, the people of Kerala are ready to choose the ‘third option’. Amit Shah wants to make the allegations of corruption and some other scams against the Warpinarayi Vijayan government in the stronghold of the Left a big weapon. Shah’s team is training grassroots (booth level) workers on how to reach out to every home on these issues. Their aim is not just to contest elections, but to shake the old roots of Leftism which were considered impenetrable. This ‘Mission 2026’ of Shah is not limited to just speeches, but behind it, intensive survey and report card work is going on. He knows that defeating the Left in Kerala means giving a new message to the country’s politics. The truth is that Kerala politics is now at a point where the contest is going to be interesting. On one side there is the cadre of the Left, on the other side there is Congress’s old existence, and amidst all this, Amit Shah has his own strong siege. It remains to be seen what turn this electoral equation will take by 2026. But it is certain that Amit Shah has now started writing the script of BJP’s victory in Kerala.
