Congress’s Digvijay Singh refuses to go to Rajya Sabha
Bhopal. Recently, amidst political turmoil in Madhya Pradesh on Congress’ Dalit agenda and statement of making SC/ST the Chief Minister, Digvijay Singh has changed his stand. He has given a big statement regarding the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
Announced not to go to Rajya Sabha
Speaking to the media after an event in Bhopal, Digvijay Singh clarified that he will not be a candidate for Rajya Sabha. Due to this statement, the discussion on the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections has given a direction. It is noteworthy that his Rajya Sabha tenure is ending in 2026 and one seat is falling vacant in Madhya Pradesh on April 9.
Demand for Congress Scheduled Caste Department
Digvijay Singh had recently said in a program of Dalits that he would be happy if someone from SC/ST becomes the Chief Minister. The ruling BJP targeted him on this statement. Apart from this, in his own party, Congress Scheduled Caste Department President Pradeep Ahirwar has sent a letter to Digvijay Singh requesting that the Dalit class should be represented on the vacant Rajya Sabha seat. It is also expected in the letter that this issue should be kept prominently before the national leadership.
