Putting an end to this controversy, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Umpire Department Chairman Iftikhar Rahman clarified the situation in a statement given to Cricbuzz after the first ODI match. He told that the appointment of Sharafuddaula Saikat has been done completely under the rules of ICC (International Cricket Council). According to Rahman, Saikat is a contract umpire of ICC and not of BCB. It is clearly written in his job agreement that when ICC assigns him duty, he is not required to take leave.
