Laptop keyboard stopped working? Follow these 5 measures before going to service center

In today’s digital era, laptop has become an important part of studies, office and online work. In such a situation, if the keyboard of the laptop suddenly stops working, then it is natural for the problem to increase. Many people reach the service center without any delay, where even for a small problem, they are given a bill of thousands of rupees. However, technical experts say that every time a keyboard malfunction is not a hardware problem. Many times this problem can be solved at home by adopting some easy solutions.

1. Restart the laptop

It may sound normal, but sometimes the keyboard stops working due to software glitches or temporary bugs. Restarting the laptop allows the system to load properly again and the keyboard to work again. Therefore, try this method first.

2. Check with an external keyboard

If the laptop’s inbuilt keyboard is not working, try installing an external keyboard. If the external keyboard works properly, it means that the problem may be related to the software or the inbuilt keyboard and not the entire system.

3. Update or reinstall the keyboard driver

Outdated or corrupted drivers can also cause the keyboard to not respond. Update the keyboard driver by going to Device Manager or uninstall it once and restart the system. In many cases, the driver reinstalls itself and the problem is resolved.

4. Clean up dust and dirt

Dust, food particles, or moisture trapped inside the keyboard may cause some buttons or the entire keyboard to stop working. Switch off the laptop and clean the keyboard gently. Use compressed air and avoid wet cloth or water, as this may cause damage.

5. Check keyboard settings and language

Many times the language or setting of the keyboard changes inadvertently, due to which typing does not work. Go to Control Panel or Settings to check the keyboard language and layout and choose the right option if needed.

When to go to service center?

If the keyboard does not work even after all these measures, or an incident like water falling on the laptop has happened, then there is a possibility of hardware damage. In such a situation, going to an authorized service center is a better option.
