25 killed, 80 injured as crane falls on train in Thailand; most school students

A horrific train accident occurred in Thailand on Wednesday. The crane fell from a height of 65 feet on a passenger train running at a speed of 120 km/hour. The accident occurred at about 9:05 a.m. in Nakhon Ratchasima province, 230 kilometers north-east of Bangkok.

22 killed, 80 injured

According to the information, 22 people died and 80 passengers were injured in the accident. The condition of many of them is said to be critical. There were about 195 passengers on board the train at the time of the accident, mostly school students. The crane was being used for the construction of a railway bridge.

The rescue team immediately reached the spot and took the injured passengers to nearby hospitals. Many passengers were trapped in the coaches, who were taken out with the help of cutting and spreading equipment. So far 12 bodies have been recovered.
