Summary: Space Jane: Chandrayaan’s trailer is a lesson in failure

JioHotstar’s upcoming web series ‘Space Jane: Chandrayaan’ showcases the era of India’s space history when the country faced failure after the Chandrayaan-2 mission. This series tells the story of trust, responsibility and new beginnings after failure.

Space Gen Chandrayaan Trailer: India’s space journey is not limited to just rockets, technology and scientific achievements. It is also the story of people who believed in themselves and their dreams again instead of giving up after failure. The new web series ‘Space Jane: Chandrayaan’ coming on Jio Hotstar is going to bring out this spirit in a very sensitive manner. The trailer of this five-episode series has been released, which will stream from January 23, 2026. The trailer reveals that the series not only celebrates the success of the Chandrayaan mission but also shows the difficult times when the country faced a major failure.

In 2019, during the Chandrayaan-2 mission, the entire nation was shocked when the lander went out of contact a few kilometers from the lunar surface. ‘Space Jane: Chandrayaan’ takes the story forward from that time. This series also raises the question of what happens to an institution and its people when expectations are shattered, criticism increases and the whole world starts questioning. The show treats the failed landing not as the end, but as a new beginning. The 1 minute 47 second trailer reveals that the story is about uncertainty, responsibility and the pressure of rebuilding trust after a major failure.

The series shows that a new ISRO chief comes in, who trusts the same team that had completed the previous mission. This decision is not only technically but also emotionally challenging. From here begins the long journey of introspection, responsibility and proving oneself, which ends in India’s historic Lunar South Pole landing.

Nakuul Mehta, who is playing the lead role in this series, says that this story is about the burden of mistake and the courage to correct it. His character depicts a man who is broken from within, but is not ready to give up. Whereas Shriya Saran’s character appears calm, restrained and very strong from within. Shriya says that this role forces her to think about the emotional sacrifices that are the price of big dreams and are often not visible.

The most special thing about ‘Space Jane: Chandrayaan’ is that it tells the story of people instead of visual spectacle. Produced by TVF and directed by Anant Singh, the series brings to the fore the emotional world of scientists, officers and their families. It shows that missions are fought not just on launch pads, but also within homes, relationships and minds. The show will stream on Jio Hotstar from January 23, 2026.
