An important aspect in film preparation is the development of new drafts of the script. According to a media report, Hirani is currently preparing a new version of the script.

four years of script development

The script development process has been ongoing for the past four years, with multiple writers involved. Rajkumar Hirani is working closely with Abhijat Joshi, Hindukush Bhardwaj and Avishkar Bhardwaj to shape the script. It aims to honor the legacy of Dadasaheb Phalke and highlight his contribution to Indian cinema.

script improvements

Work is underway to refine the tone of the script, to strike a balance between historical accuracy and modern storytelling. The goal of this process was to combine humor and honesty, to give Phalke’s character the dignity and complexity it deserves. According to a source, “Hirani and Aamir agreed that the film should be emotionally contemporary while still keeping it in a historical context.” The draft is expected to be finalized by February, and production will begin in late March.

Use of advanced technology

In addition to changes to the script, the production team is using advanced technology to recreate the period setting of the film. Los Angeles-based FX Studios developed AI-powered visual references.

The story of Dadasaheb Phalke is important in the history of Indian cinema. He directed Raja Harishchandra in 1913, considered to be India’s first full-length feature film.
