Emraan Hashmi’s amazing acting in The Smuggler web series, glamor but made it boring!

Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web Review:-The web series ‘Tascari: The Smuggler’s Web’, released on Netflix on January 14, 2026, presents an interesting crime story. Emraan Hashmi is in the lead role in this series directed by Neeraj Pandey and Raghav Jairath. Artists like Sharad Kelkar, Anurag Sinha, Nandish Sandhu, Amrita Khanvilkar and Jamil Khan are also seen in it.

The world of airport smuggling

The series focuses on the smuggling of gold and drugs at airports. The story shows how customs officials keep an eye on these illegal activities. The story moves in a non-linear manner and succeeds in keeping the audience engaged.

But the fast editing, flashy graphics and loud background music dilute the real tension and realism of the story. Due to too much emphasis on showing foreign locations like Italy and Bangkok, the series looks a bit artificial.

Strong story and characters

The story begins with suspended customs officer Arjun Meena (Emraan Hashmi). Under pressure from the Finance Minister, a new team is formed, which is deployed at major airports. This team includes honest officers like Prakash Kumar (Anurag Sinha), Ravinder Gurjar (Nandish Sandhu) and Mithali Kamath (Amrita Khanvilkar).

Together, these people try to expose the network of big smuggler Bada Chaudhary (Sharad Kelkar). After the fourth episode, there is a real twist in the story and the events start connecting.

Emraan Hashmi’s acting

Emraan Hashmi has played the character of Arjun Meena with great restraint. He avoids too much drama and makes the character believable. Anurag Sinha has left the biggest impact as Assistant Commissioner. Nandish Sandhu and Amrita Khanvilkar have also given depth to their characters. Sharad Kelkar’s villain looks a bit stylish, but his scary side remains weak.

Where is the gap left in the series?

Neeraj Pandey’s style is more polished and pretentious, which reduces the seriousness of the story. If the series had less glamor and more reality, its impact would have been much deeper. Still, ‘Taskari’ is worth watching because of the strong acting and interesting plot. It is a good crime thriller, which gives a glimpse of the world of smuggling, but lacks much realism.
