Bhopal. Political turmoil has intensified regarding the Rajya Sabha elections to be held soon in Madhya Pradesh. Three Rajya Sabha seats are going to become vacant between April and June this year, which includes two seats of BJP and one seat of Congress. Before this, the period of claims and statements has started. There is discussion in the political circles of the state as to which leaders will reach the Rajya Sabha.

BJP’s candidates for Rajya Sabha

Many prominent contenders for Rajya Sabha have emerged in the Bharatiya Janata Party. These include former Union Minister Suresh Pachauri, former Minister Lal Singh Arya, and former Minister Arvind Bhadauria. Apart from this, Ramniwas Rawat, who joined BJP from Congress, is also a part of this race. In such a situation, the issue of giving opportunity to young faces for BJP is also being discussed. Consideration is being given to giving importance to sages and saints also.

Congress contenders

Congress’s Digvijay Singh has announced to leave his seat, which has increased the discussion about new contenders to replace him. Names like former MP Nakulnath, former minister Kamleshwar Patel, and former Union minister Arun Yadav are in the race. Apart from this, Sajjan Singh Verma and Meenakshi Natarajan are also among the possible candidates. The youth leadership is also expected to get a chance this time.

Status of Rajya Sabha seats of MP

Madhya Pradesh has a total of 11 Rajya Sabha seats, out of which 8 are held by the Bharatiya Janata Party and 3 by the Congress. The tenure of Digvijay Singh and BJP MP Sumer Singh Solanki is ending on April 9 this year. At the same time, the tenure of Union Minister George Kurien will continue till June 2026. This situation has further increased political excitement.
