Conor Gallagher joins Tottenham Hotspur from Atletico Madrid
Tottenham Hotspur has announced the signing of English midfielder Conor Gallagher from La Liga side Atletico Madrid.
The 25-year-old joins Thomas Frank’s side on a long-term deal after a season-and-a-half in Spain.
“I wanted to be a Spurs player and thankfully the Club felt the same. It was very easy, it happened very quickly and I’m ready to get on the pitch,” said Gallagher in a statement on the Tottenham Hotspur website.
“I know how great the fans are, I’m really happy to be a part of it here and want to create special moments and memories together.”
Gallagher came through the Chelsea academy, and went on to captain the club after establishing himself in the Blues’ first-team. He has made a total of 177 Premier League appearances for Chelsea and Crystal Palace, and has also spent time on loan with Charlton Athletic, Swansea City, and West Bromwich Albion.
He joined Diego Simeone’s side in August 2024, and turned out for it 77 times. His goal after 27 seconds in Atletico’s round of 16 tie against Real Madrid made him the first Englishman to score in a Madrid derby, and was the fastest goal by an Englishman in UEFA Champions League.
He has also represented England 22 times, and was part of its 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2024 UEFA European Championships squads.
