Batting coach said- Kohli and Rohit are not captains…but they keep talking to Gambhir about the World Cup.

Rajkot. Indian cricket team’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has made a big claim about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. In Rajkot on Tuesday, January 13, he said that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are actively involved in formulating India’s long-term ODI strategy, including preparations for next year’s World Cup. Even though Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are not captains at this time, they seem to be a part of the leadership group.

Coach Kotak said that both the superstar batsmen are associated with the team management including head coach Gautam Gambhir. “They make strategies,” he said before the second ODI against New Zealand. Now since they are playing the same format, they want India to win all the matches. Both of them have so much experience that they share and discuss ideas with the rest of the players. He talks with Gautam Gambhir about the ODI format and also our strategy for the World Cup to be held in South Africa.

  • Kotak further added, “Most of the time I am there and if I am listening they share their experiences. I always see them talking. You see a lot of things like this on social media, so I avoid seeing them. From where I see, there is a lot of positive. For the last few months, there has been a lot of speculation about the mutual equations between Kohli, Rohit and the new coaching structure. Kotak gave clarity on this also.

Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak said that after the T20 World Cup ends in March, India will have to rework its batting keeping in mind the rule of a new ball after the 34th over. After the change in playing conditions, the bowling team now has to choose one of two balls between the 35th and 50th overs. He said, “After the T20 World Cup, there will be more ODIs. We have to keep in mind the new rule that there will be only one ball after the 34th over.
