Admonition or rebuke? Maulana Madani reminded Congress of its old sin in the gathering.
News India Live, Digital Desk: It is said in politics that the harshest criticism is that which comes not from your opponents, but from those who are considered your sympathizers. Something similar has happened with Congress. Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani has given a statement regarding the Congress party, which is no less than a sharp ‘admonition’ or ‘rebuke’. Often Muslim organizations are seen criticizing the policies of BJP, but this time Madani’s target was directly on the oldest party of the country i.e. Congress. He explained in clear words why Congress is out of power today. “Maulana Arshad Madani expressed his views in very simple and truthful words. He said that if the Congress had taken a strong stand against communalism during its rule, it would not have been in this condition today. His point was clear that when the Congress was in power, it did not show as much strictness against the forces spreading communalism as it should have. Perhaps due to fear of losing the vote bank or as part of some other strategy, they softened. And according to Madani, this proved to be his biggest mistake. What is the meaning of this statement? If you understand it in simple language, Madani is trying to say that “You did not treat the disease when it was young, now it has become a ulcer, so you are crying.” Madani admitted that the atmosphere of hatred has increased in the country, but he did not blame it only on the present government. He reminded Congress that the foundation was hollowed by your silence. He said, “If they (Congress) had taken a strong stand against communalism, they would not have had to be out of power.” Secularism should not just be in words but in action. Madani’s statement is a ‘reality check’ in a way. He has tried to explain to Congress and other opposition parties that nothing will be achieved by beating the drum of secularism. You have to come into the field and fight without fear against every force that divides the society. If you become ‘soft’, the public will also reject you. Warning for Congress: This statement has come at a time when Congress is looking for a comeback. If its biggest leader from the minority community, which is traditionally considered the vote bank of the Congress, is raising such questions, then the party needs to rethink its strategy. Madani has shown in gestures that to win trust one does not need ‘show off’ but ‘courage’.
