Was not born poor – a shocking truth

Many people believe that Ranu Mandal was always poor. But the truth is very different. In an interview with IANS in 2019, Ranu revealed: “I was not born on the footpath. I was from a well-to-do family. It was my destiny.”

She also claimed that she had an affair with famous actor Firoz Khan. Although she was later seen begging on the streets of Bengal, she was not born in poverty.

Separated from parents at just 6 months old

Ranu Mandal, whose full name is Ranu Maria Mandal, was separated from her parents when she was just six months old. He was brought up by his grandmother in Krishnanagar, West Bengal. In some reports, her name is also mentioned as Ranu Ray or Ranu Bobby. Due to her voice being similar to Lata Mangeshkar, she was often called “Lata Mangeshkar of Ranaghat”.

Marriage, life near Mumbai and Bollywood

After marriage, Ranu went to Mumbai with her husband. She told that her husband used to work as a cook in the house of actor Firoz Khan. Ranu once said: “My husband used to work as a cook in Firoz Khan’s house. His son Fardeen was in college then. He treated us like family.” She also sang in clubs to earn her living. During this time she got the name “Ranu Bobby”.

Two marriages, both ended painfully.

According to reports, Ranu Mandal was married twice. One husband died, and the other left her. Some reports claim that her first husband left her because he and his family did not like her singing in clubs. Ranu had a son and a daughter from her first marriage.

Later, her second husband Bablu Mandal also died in 2003. After this, Ranu is said to have gone into depression and returned to Ranaghat with her children.
