Daryl Mitchell scored his third ODI century against India, now only De Villiers is ahead.
Daryl Mitchell has again scored an ODI century against India. After scoring centuries in Dharamshala and Wankhede during the 2023 World Cup, he has now scored a century in Rajkot ODI. Mitchell has come second after AB de Villiers in terms of scoring the most ODI centuries against Team India on Indian soil.
South African legend De Villiers had scored 5 centuries in 11 ODI innings against Team India in India. Whereas Mitchell has scored his third century in his seventh innings. In the last match played in Vadodara also, Mitchell had played an inning of 84 runs.

equaled Ross Taylor
As soon as Mitchell completed his century, he has equaled the greats like Ross Taylor and Chris Cairns. Taylor and Cairns had scored 3-3 ODI centuries against India. Nathan Astle is the Kiwi batsman who has scored the most ODI centuries against the Indian team. He scored 5 centuries in 29 innings. He was followed by Taylor and Cairns. Mitchell now stands at par with Taylor-Cairns.

India had set a target of 285 runs for New Zealand in Rajkot. Chasing this, the Kiwi team lost both its openers by the time it reached 46 runs. The run speed was also below 4. From here, Mitchell took the lead along with Will Young and changed the course of the match by making a partnership of 162 runs for the third wicket. Meanwhile, he completed the eighth century of his ODI career in 96 balls.

After the departure of Young (87), Mitchell got the support of Glenn Phillips and both of them took New Zealand to the target in 47.3 overs. The Kiwi team registered a big win by 7 wickets and achieved a 1-1 draw in the series. Mitchell remained unbeaten after scoring 131 runs in 117 balls with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes. He was awarded the Player of the Match award. Phillips remained unbeaten after scoring 32 runs in 25 balls. The third and deciding match of the series will be played on Sunday at Holkar Stadium in Indore.
