Diljit Dosanjh’s gram flour sheera recipe to stay healthy in winters goes viral

He told on social media that in winter he eats gram flour syrup, which helps in keeping him fit and healthy. He says that adopting this traditional remedy provides relief from problems like cold and cough and keeps the body warm from inside.
What is gram flour sheera?
Besan Sheera is a traditional Punjabi home recipe, which is prepared especially in winters. Eating this provides warmth to the body, reduces cold and cough and strengthens immunity. To make gram flour sheera, gram flour is first roasted in ghee, then milk and jaggery powder is mixed in it. Prepare it hot and eat it before sleeping to provide relief from sore throat and nasal congestion.
How does gram flour syrup work?
According to nutrition expert Dr. Yashwant Kumar, the ingredients present in gram flour molasses make it healthy. Things like turmeric, black pepper and ginger can help in reducing swelling and stiffness. Almonds and gram flour provide essential nutrients to the body and reduce fatigue during illness. Apart from this, they improve digestion and help in increasing energy levels. Milk and ghee give relaxation to the body and help in getting good sleep.

Dr. Kumar also clarified that there is no scientific evidence for gram flour syrup. It should not be seen as a medicine for cold and cough. It only works to provide some relief and comfort to the symptoms. If cold and cough persist for a long time or are severe, it is important to get checked by a doctor.
