Apple Creator Studio to be launched in India this month-end, price starts at Rs 399

Apple has introduced a new software bundle called Apple Creator Studio, which combines popular creative applications into a single subscription service. This platform aims to compete with Adobe’s Creative Cloud and will provide access to Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage. Apple Creator Studio will officially launch in India on January 28.

After a one-month free trial, Apple Creator Studio will cost $12.99 (almost Rs 1171) per month, or $129(almost Rs 11,631) annually. It will cost $2.99 a month, or $29.99 (almost Rs 2072) a year for both teachers and students.

The Final Cut Pro video editor, Logic Pro digital audio workstation, and Pixelmator Pro image editor will be available on both Macs and iPads, but only Macs will have access to the Motion video effects editor, Compressor video and audio encoder, and MainStage live audio manager. Apple claims that the Creator Studio bundle includes “intelligent features and premium content,” including the free Keynote, Pages, and Numbers apps for Mac, iPad, and iPhone. Freeform will follow.

“There’s never been a more flexible and accessible way to get started with such a powerful collection of creative apps for professionals, emerging artists, entrepreneurs, students, and educators to do their best work and explore their creative interests from start to finish,” said Eddy Cue, senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, Apple in a press release.

Adobe’s decision in 2013 to shift completely to a subscription model, abandoning app licenses, frustrated many of its users, even though Adobe remains the industry leader in creative software.

Although Adobe’s $69.99 (almost Rs 6,310) monthly charge for Creative Cloud Pro is more expensive than Apple’s $12.99 (Rs 1171) monthly fee for Apple Creator Studio, Apple is still vying for that lucrative subscription revenue. It will cost you $22.99 (Almost Rs 2072)a month to subscribe to only one of Adobe’s most well-known programs, such as Photoshop, Premiere, and Illustrator.

Apple Creator Studio will be launched on January 28, with a subscription cost of Rs 399 per month or Rs 3,999 per year. New subscribers can access a one-month free trial, and those purchasing a new Mac or qualifying iPad are eligible for three months free. Educational discounts are offered at Rs 199 per month or Rs 1999 annually for students and educators.

The application can be downloaded from the App Store and supports Family Sharing for up to six members. Additionally, one-time purchases for software such as Final Cut Pro (Rs 29,900), Logic Pro (Rs 19,900), Pixelmator Pro (Rs 999), Motion (Rs 4,900), Compressor (Rs 4,999), and MainStage (Rs 2,999) are available on the Mac App Store. Free versions of Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and Freeform are included with new devices.

Rumours about Apple launching its own creative software bundle began circulating after the acquisition of Pixelmator Pro in November 2024. While Apple is limited to competing against Adobe on Mac and iOS platforms, companies like Affinity have also launched similar creative software bundles, increasing competitive pressure on Adobe in other markets.
