Next 72 hours heavy for many states including Delhi-NCR, possibility of rain in plains, snowfall in mountains

Cold continues to wreak havoc in the country, but the weather is showing some change in some areas. People were thinking that now there will be relief from the cold wave, but the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a new alert, which is a matter of some concern. There is a possibility of rain and snowfall in many states of North India in the coming 72 hours i.e. in the next three days.

Overall, there is yellow or orange alert for rain in 8 states. Also, severe cold wave and dense fog are troubling people in some cities. There is good news for tourists in the hilly areas, because snowfall will create beautiful views there, but it is important to be careful. How will the weather be in different parts of the country tomorrow i.e. 15th January and in the coming days.

Rain and snowfall alert in 8 states of the country

According to the Meteorological Department, a new Western Disturbance is about to become active. Due to its effect, the weather will change in North India from January 16 to January 20. There may be moderate to heavy rain and snowfall in higher reaches in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between January 16 and 20. There are chances of light to moderate rain in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh during January 18 to 20. There may be rain at some places in Western Uttar Pradesh and Eastern Rajasthan on January 19 and 20. Apart from this, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder in Lakshadweep on January 14. With the arrival of rain, there will be some increase in humidity in the winter and the temperature may drop by 2-3 degrees, hence people should carry warm clothes and be careful while traveling by road.

Delhi weather

It is still extremely cold in Delhi. From January 15 to 17, the temperature will be around 4 to 5 degrees in the morning and night. Light cold winds will blow at a speed of 10-15 km/hour. There is an alert of rain between 18th and 20th January, due to which the temperature may drop again by 2-3 degrees. Dense fog may also persist, so be very careful while driving in the morning.

Uttar Pradesh-Bihar

There is an alert of moderate to heavy rain in UP from 18 to 20 January. People have been appealed to remain alert. On January 15, severe cold wave will hit many cities like Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Agra, Mathura, Meerut, Noida, Jhansi, Bareilly and Aligarh. The maximum temperature in Lucknow tomorrow is expected to be 17 degrees and minimum 8 degrees. Life is being affected due to fog and cold. There will be severe cold and dense fog in Bihar on January 15. There will be fog in most of the districts in the morning and cold wave will prevail. There is an alert of dangerous cold wave in districts like Patna, Siwan, Buxar, Bhojpur, Saran, East Champaran, West Champaran, Purnia, Kishanganj, Katihar, Araria, Khagaria, Darbhanga and Madhubani. Wear warm clothes and a mask while going out.

Himachal Pradesh-Uttarakhand

There is an alert of light to moderate rain and snowfall at higher altitudes in Himachal for 5 consecutive days from January 16 to January 20. Snow may fall in areas like Manali, Lahaul-Spiti, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi. The maximum temperature in Manali can be only 2 degrees and the minimum can be minus 12 degrees. Tourists can have fun, but be prepared to protect themselves from the cold. The temperature may drop further by 1-2 degrees. Cold will increase further in Uttarakhand on January 15. In places like Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Lansdowne, Nainital and Dhanaulti, the temperature may fall by 1-2 degrees. Cold wave will prevail in the morning. Nainital is expected to have a maximum of 16 degrees and a minimum of 4 degrees. Be careful on mountain roads.

Rajasthan-Madhya Pradesh

Difficulties may increase due to rain in Rajasthan on 19 and 20 January. There is a cold wave alert in Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Ajmer, Sikar and Bikaner. There will be dense fog in Churu, Sriganganagar, Bharatpur and Alwar, people should be careful. In Madhya Pradesh, on January 15, the temperature will be less than 5 degrees in 5 cities like Chitrakoot, Naugaon, Morena, Khajuraho and Karaundi. Strong cold winds will blow in the morning. The maximum temperature in Bhopal can be 22 degrees and the minimum can be 8 degrees.
