India-Pakistan cricket relations are very delicate

Last year, India-Pakistan cricket relations had become quite delicate due to increasing tension on the border. India had launched Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam attack, in which 26 people lost their lives. As a result, players of both the teams could not interact in a friendly manner in the Asia Cup 2025. Despite coming face to face thrice including the final, the players of both the teams did not even shake hands.

India won Asia Cup by defeating Pakistan

India won the Asia Cup by defeating Pakistan in this tournament, but after this the controversy further increased when India refused to accept the trophy from ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi. Mohsin Naqvi is also the PCB chief and Home Minister of Pakistan. Till now the Asia Cup trophy is kept in the ACC office in Dubai.

Bitterness likely to continue in T20 World Cup

Similar bitterness is expected to continue during the T20 World Cup also. Experts and fans are believing that the policy of not shaking hands, as was seen in the Asia Cup, may remain in force this time too. This match will be played on 15 February at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. This will be Pakistan’s third match of the league stage. In the beginning of the tournament, Pakistan will face Netherlands and then America, who had eliminated them from the 2024 T20 World Cup. The Indian team is also preparing to make a strong start in the tournament.
