Why were local ACs closed, why are they returning now?

According to railway officials, AC local services on the Harbor Line were stopped in May 2022 due to low passengers and protests. Later they were shifted to the main line. Now, in view of the increasing demand from Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas, they are being restarted. Navi Mumbai Railway Pravasi Sangh has welcomed this decision.
