Fast bowler Mohammad Siraj became captain amid ODI series, got a big opportunity
New Delhi : Team India’s fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has got a big responsibility in his home team Hyderabad in the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand. Siraj will captain Hyderabad for two matches in the Ranji Trophy. Siraj has been appointed captain of the team in place of Rahul Singh. Mohammed Siraj has got command in the matches against Mumbai and Chhattisgarh. Hyderabad team is included in Elite Group D in Ranji Trophy 2025-26.

In this group, Hyderabad has won only one out of the five matches played so far, while one match has been a draw. Now the Hyderabad team has to face Mumbai in its last two matches of the league from January 22. Its second match against Chhattisgarh is from 29th January. Hyderabad has to play both these matches on its home ground.
Mohammed Siraj will play his first match against Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season. Due to his commitment with the Indian team, he was not available for his home team Hyderabad. Currently, he is playing with Team India in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. He has not been very effective in the ODI matches played against New Zealand so far. Siraj has been able to take only 2 wickets in two matches. The third match of the series will be played in Rajkot, in which he will be seen in action on 18 January. After this match Siraj will return to Ranji Trophy.
31-year-old Mohammed Siraj has played a total of 109 international matches for Team India so far, which includes 45 Tests, 48 ODIs and 16 T20 matches. Siraj has played a total of 88 first class matches so far, in which he has taken 309 wickets at an average of 26.44. In such a situation, it is expected that Siraj will wreak havoc with his bowling in his two matches against Hyderabad this season.
