Legal crisis on Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’, Supreme Court refuses to interfere
New Delhi: South superstar Thalapathy Vijay’s much awaited film ‘Jana Nayagan’ is once again stuck in trouble. The ongoing legal dispute regarding the release of the film was heard in the Supreme Court on Thursday, but the court refused to interfere in the matter. Now the final decision on this entire matter has to be taken by the Madras High Court.
The Supreme Court has clearly said that it will not interfere directly in this dispute and has directed the High Court to take a decision within the stipulated time. This has increased the worries of both the makers and the fans, because the release of the film has already been postponed and the losses are continuously increasing.
High Court instructed to give its verdict by January 20
The Supreme Court has asked the Division Bench of Madras High Court to give its decision in this matter by January 20. The court says that this dispute should be resolved where it is already pending.
What argument was given by the makers?
Senior lawyer Mukul Rohatgi presented the case in the Supreme Court on behalf of the production house KVN Productions of the film ‘Jana Nayagan’. He said that the High Court should be instructed to take a decision on this case before January 20. He said in the court,"Because the producers have lost everything due to the film getting stuck. They are ruined."
It was also said on behalf of the makers, “We appeal to all the judges to dispose of the case in a day or two. I have lost everything. I am ruined.”
Release stopped due to censor board’s objection
Jan Nayagan’s release is stuck due to objections from a member of the censor board. Objections have been raised on some parts of the film, due to which its certification has not been received yet. For this reason the film could not be released on the scheduled date.
It was to be released on January 9
This film of Thalapathy Vijay was going to be released in theaters on January 9 and its advance booking had also started. But due to legal and censor disputes, the release of the film was postponed, due to which the distributors had to suffer huge losses.
Makers are facing losses worth crores
According to media reports, the makers of the film have suffered a loss of crores of rupees so far. Earlier it was expected that the dispute would be resolved by Pongal, but now the matter seems to be taking longer.
Uneasiness increased due to it being Vijay’s last film
Jana Nayagan is considered to be Thalapathy Vijay’s last film, because after this he is going to enter politics. This is the reason why fans were very excited about this film, but the break in its release is increasing their disappointment.
Big stars in Pan India film
Jan Nayagan is a pan India film, in which Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol will be seen in important roles. Despite the big budget and star cast, this film is currently stuck between the censor board and the court.
