The report clearly states that the Bishnoi Crime Group, working on behalf of the Government of India, uses violence to expand its criminal business. The report describes the Bishnoi gang as a violent criminal organization with an active and growing presence in several countries, including Canada. According to the report, this gang is involved in activities like extortion, drug smuggling, money laundering and contract killing.

These reports have come at a time when relations between India and Canada are improving. After more than 10 months of tense relations that began in August 2025, the two countries have appointed ambassadors to each other. Relations deteriorated after Canadian security officials accused India of being involved in espionage and incidents of violence without providing any evidence. India has repeatedly denied these allegations. On the other hand, the report claims that Lawrence Bishnoi gang is increasing its influence in Canada.

The RCMP report said the Bishnoi Crime Group is a violent criminal organization with an active and growing presence in several countries, including Canada. The report further states that this group is known to use violence to expand its criminal business while working on behalf of the Indian government. According to the RCMP, the Bishnoi gang is involved in many serious criminal activities including extortion, drug trafficking, financial manipulation and targeted killings. Police said the gang’s main motive was “greed” and not political or religious reasons.

Report released during Canadian leader’s visit to India

According to Global News, this report was released by the RCMP on the same day when British Columbia Premier David Abe went on a trade mission to India from January 12 to 17. The report said that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has intensified its violent activities in Canada in the last one year, and despite being declared a terrorist organization by Ottawa, its activities are spreading across Canada.

It is worth noting that when Justin Trudeau was the Prime Minister, there was a diplomatic standoff between India and Canada. Trudeau had accused the Indian government of involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil. New Delhi denied any involvement and asked for evidence, which was never provided. Last October, India’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had said that the two countries have agreed to take steps to increase intelligence sharing and fight organized crime.
