Bangladesh Cricket Board kneels before the players

Bangladesh Cricket Crisis: There was a stir in Bangladesh cricket when players refused to take the field for important matches of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Thursday. But now the situation seems to be normal. The players had opened a front against BCB and announced boycott of all cricket activities. This strike created panic in BCB. After this, Bangladesh Cricket Board has removed Nazmul Islam while respecting the demands of the players.

BPL was boycotted

Today a match was to be held between Chattogram Royals and Noakhali Express at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur. The match was to start at 1:00 pm, but no team reached the venue till the scheduled time. Only the match referee and officials kept waiting for the toss on the field, but the players clearly refused to leave the hotel. Now that Islam has been removed, it is believed that BPL will be able to resume its schedule.

What was the reason for the dispute?

The root of this entire controversy lies in the objectionable statements of BCB Director M. Nazmul Islam. Recently, raising questions on the commitment of the players, he said, “Crores of rupees are spent on the players, but they are not able to win any global trophy. If the team does not play the World Cup, then the players should not suffer the loss but the board.” He even called former captain Tamim Iqbal an ‘Indian agent’, due to which there is a lot of resentment among the players and fans.
