CM Bhagwant Mann bowed before Sri Akal Takht Sahib by offering prayers barefoot, said – ‘It is our duty to spread the teachings of Sikhism’
Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today dedicated his entire day as a humble Sikh by paying obeisance before Sri Akal Takht Sahib. After performing Ardaas barefoot, he appeared before Jathedar Sahib and gave a detailed explanation on his earlier statements. The Chief Minister reiterated that he has full faith in the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and accepts its every decision wholeheartedly.
Appeared before Jathedar Sahib and gave explanation
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann spoke to journalists after appearing before Jathedar Sahib at Sri Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat. He said, “On the orders of Jathedar Sahib, I have appeared here as a humble Sikh. I have answered all the questions raised. Sri Akal Takht Sahib is the supreme institution of the entire Sikh Panth and is supreme for me too,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that Jathedar Sahib has recorded his statement and now further action will be decided after discussions with the Singh Sahibans.
“I will follow every decision of Jathedar Sahib”
The Chief Minister clarified that there is no question of challenging the authority of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He said, “I will follow every decision of Jathedar Sahib. Being present here today has given my mind deep peace and inner peace.” He also added that he prays daily for the Chaddi art of Punjab and Punjabis. His head bows before every religious place and he is a true servant of Punjab.
Called the conspiracy of opposing forces baseless
The Chief Minister completely rejected the rumors of alleged conflict between Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the Punjab Government. He said that all this is a false story fabricated by the opposition forces. “There is no intention to weaken the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. My government works only for the progress of Punjab and the welfare of the people.”
Complaints of 25-30 thousand pages were submitted
The Chief Minister said that he has submitted 25,000 to 30,000 pages of complaints to Jathedar Sahib. These complaints are related to irregularities in the functioning of Shiromani Committee. He politely requested that these complaints be investigated, because the sentiments of millions of Sikhs are involved. The Chief Minister said, “Institutions are supreme, but their heads can make mistakes. No leniency should be shown for wrongdoings.”
Formation of SIT to investigate the missing bodies: On formation of SIT to investigate the missing bodies of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Chief Minister clarified that there is no political intention in it. Their objective is only to trace the missing forms so that there is no possibility of their misuse. He requested Jathedar Sahib to instruct the Shiromani Committee to give a unique code to every published Sarup.
There are instructions to the police not to enter the buildings of religious places if Sarup is found. The Chief Minister thanked Jathedar Sahib for gifting him two important books related to Sikh Rahit Maryada and Gurdwara Act.
