Shubman Gill broke his silence on being dropped from T20 World Cup 2026, gave a big statement on the selectors

Indian ODI team captain Shubman Gill T-20 World Cup Has broken his silence on being excluded from 2026. Gill, who was the vice-captain of the T20 International team after Gautam Gambhir became the head coach, is not named in India’s 15-member squad selected for the tournament.

Speaking at the press conference ahead of India’s ODI series against New Zealand, Gill talked about his exclusion from the team and said that he has accepted the selectors’ decision and is confident that he will get what is written in his destiny.

Gill said, “First of all, I believe that in my life, I am where I should be. Whatever is written in my destiny, I will get it. As a player, I want to win matches for my team, but despite that, I respect the decision of the selectors. I wish the T20 team all the best, I hope they win the World Cup.”

Last year, before the Asia Cup, Shubman Gill was included in the T-20 International team. The Indian management hopes that he will perform well while playing with the aggressive batting unit. Gill replaced Sanju Samson in the team, who had scored three T20 International centuries in the last 12 months. He along with his friend Abhishek Sharma started the Indian innings in this format.

This move backfired and India found it difficult to maintain the batting style that had become the team’s identity under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir. Ultimately, the experiment with Gill had to be abandoned just before the T20 World Cup. Because the selectors were adamant that Samson should return to the top of the batting line-up.

T20 World Cup 2026 will start from February 7 and India will play its first match against America.
