Work has started on an ambitious plan for the development of Hathras district in Uttar Pradesh. ‘Hathras Urban Centre’ i.e. the new city will be established in about 4000 hectares of land near Yamuna Expressway.
UP News: Preparations have started to give a new direction to the development of Hathras district. ‘Hathras Urban Centre’ i.e. ‘New Hathras’ will be established in about 4000 hectares of land near Yamuna Expressway. Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has started the process of preparing the master plan for this ambitious scheme. The selected company RV Engineering Consultant Limited has to prepare a detailed master plan till the year 2041 within nine months.
Process of preparing master plan
Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has started the process of preparing the master plan for Hathras Urban Centre. For this, earlier RFP (Request For Proposal) was issued. Three companies were found technically eligible in the process, which included RV Engineering of Telangana, Guruda UAV Solutions Private Limited, and LEA Associates South Asia.
RV Engineering Consultants Limited, which made the lowest bid of Rs 1.24 crore in the financial bid, has been entrusted with the responsibility of preparing the master plan. The company will have to complete this work in nine months and this plan will be prepared keeping in mind the development till 2041.
All modern aspects will be included in the master plan
The master plan will be prepared as per URDPFI Guidelines-2014, Uttar Pradesh Industrial Area Development Act-1976, and rules of the state and central government. The scheme will be completely based on GIS technology. This will include:
- Industrial and commercial development
- future population projections
- Road and transport network
- Electricity, water and sewerage facilities
- Green areas and natural resource conservation
- Environmental balance and sustainable development
The location of this new city near Yamuna Expressway will make it attractive for industrial and business activities.
Industrial history of Hathras
Hathras has a very old history as an industrial and business centre. During the British period, this area was known for its commercial importance. Currently more than 10,000 MSMEs and cottage industries are registered in the district. These include:
- Glass Bangles and Ghungroo Manufacturing
- hosiery and textile industry
- Handicrafts and Metal Crafts
- Cold Storage and Dairy
- Ayurvedic medicines and pickles
These industries are working as clusters and the new city will further promote these industries. The ‘New Hathras’ project will cover 358 villages in the Yamunanagar region. The new city will be connected to NH-93, Yamuna Expressway and SH-33. Apart from this, two major rail lines meet at Hathras Junction, which will make connectivity easy.
However, lack of internal roads, electricity, water, sewerage, health and recreational facilities is still felt in the district. This new project will remove these shortcomings and the city will be equipped with modern facilities.
