T20 World Cup: Bangladesh took a shocking step, did not give visa to ICC official!

New Delhi:Even before the T20 World Cup, tension is visible in the cricket relations between India and Bangladesh. This controversy especially started when BCCI decided to exclude Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL 2026 season. Since then, there is a slight sourness between the cricket boards and governments of both the countries.

BCCI took this decision at a time when there were reports of attacks on minority Hindus in Bangladesh. After this step, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the government there got angry. Reportedly, he is hesitant in sending his team to India for the T20 World Cup. ICC has been trying to convince the Bangladeshi board for the last several days, but at present no solution has been found.

Claim on social media on visa dispute

Recently, a claim is spreading rapidly on social media that the Bangladesh government refused to grant visa to CEO Sanjog Gupta who was accompanying the ICC team. This was reportedly done because he is an Indian citizen and this step is being considered as revenge for Mustafizur’s removal from IPL. However, neither the BCB nor the Bangladesh government or the ICC have given any official statement on this matter. Therefore this information is not confirmable at this time.

ICC’s efforts

ICC has now decided to go to Bangladesh and talk directly to the board. The objective of this meeting is to maintain the existing schedule and to give confidence to the Bangladeshi team to play matches in India. ICC says that this is the last effort so that the matches in the T20 World Cup can be played as per the already decided schedule.

The exclusion of Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL and the visa dispute have affected the cricket relations between the two countries. ICC is trying to prepare the Bangladesh team to play in India by clarifying the issues of security and trust. At present an official statement is awaited in this matter.
