Naatan Skyttä named Bundesliga 2 Player of the Season so far in 2025/26
Exhibiting his clinicalness in front of goal, 23-year-old Naatan Skyttä has fired Kaiserslautern into promotion contention and earned him the title of the Bundesliga 2’s Player of the Season so far by fans voting on the official Bundesliga app!
There were 16 on the shortlist for player of the 2025/26 Bundesliga 2 season so far, but Kaiserslautern’s summer signing Skyttä saw off Schalke goalkeeper Loris Karius in the final, as well as competition from leading scorer Younes Ebnoutalib – formerly of Elversberg but now with Eintracht Frankfurt – and 2025 Goal of the Year winner and teammate Ivan Prtajin to take the crown in the final with 60 percent of the vote.
Usually operating as a No. 10, Finland’s Skyttä has developed a serious goal threat and is Lautern’s joint-top goalscorer alongside Prtajin, converting 21 of his shots into eight goals in 16 appearances, showcasing his finishing efficiency.
Voted Bundesliga 2’s shooting star in November, the Finn continued his excellent form to see out 2025.
Catching the eye since his arrival from French second-division side Littoral Dunkerque, Skyttä has seamlessly adapted to life in Germany, featuring in every Bundesliga 2 game for his new club.
Opening his account in his third appearance for the Red Devils, the 23-year-old announced himself by scoring in three straight games, before netting again on Matchday 9, against Karlsruhe.
The 23-year-old struck a superb hat-trick against Holstein Kiel on Matchday 13 before scoring and assisting against Dynamo Dresden in December as Kaiserslautern look to return to the Bundesliga for the first since 2012, with the Red Devils currently six points adrift of third-placed Darmstadt.
