Taking name of Mumbai, PM Modi mocks Congress for becoming fourth party in BMC elections 2026.
Kaliabor (Assam). PM Narendra Modi does not forget to target and taunt Congress whenever he gets a chance. In a public meeting in Kaliabor, Assam on Sunday, PM Modi once again took a jibe at Congress. PM Modi said that Congress was born in Mumbai, but in that city today Congress stands at fourth or fifth position. PM Modi said that Congress has lost the trust of the country because it does not have a development agenda.

PM Modi also indicated that BJP mayor will be elected in Mumbai’s BMC also. Along with the BMC elections, he also mentioned the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation elections in Kerala. PM Modi said that people in every part of the country have faith in BJP. He said that BJP has been elected mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation. This statement of PM Modi indicates that BJP is preparing to bring its own mayor in BMC also. Earlier there were reports that Shiv Sena chief and Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde wants the post of mayor in BMC to be divided between BJP and his party for two and a half years.

Recently, elections were held for 29 municipal corporations including BMC in Maharashtra. In these elections, BJP has captured the maximum number of councilor seats. Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena-UBT could get only 66 seats in BMC. Whereas, only 6 councilors of cousin Raj Thackeray’s MNS who had formed an alliance with him could win in BMC. Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, Ajit Pawar’s NCP, Congress and Sharad Pawar’s NCP-SP could not win. Whereas, Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM captured 8 councilor posts in BMC. BJP has 89 councilors in BMC. That is the biggest party. Whereas, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena has elected 29 councilors in BMC.
