He was playing a ‘dirty game’ under the guise of religion, this is how police caught rape accused storyteller Shravan Das.

A sensational case has come to light from Darbhanga, Bihar, where a storyteller, under the guise of religion and faith, committed a shameful act. Famous storyteller Shravan Das Ji Maharaj has been arrested by Mahila Thana police on charges of raping a minor girl. A case was registered against the accused on 19 December 2025, after which the police was searching for him.

Marriage hoax and then brutality

According to the FIR lodged in the women’s police station, the narrator Shravan Das had trapped the minor victim on the pretext of marriage. It is alleged that he continued to have physical relations with the girl for about a year. Meanwhile, when the victim became pregnant, the accused also forcibly aborted her. The victim’s mother has said in her complaint that a video of a closed-door marriage had also surfaced, but despite this the narrator went back on his words and flatly refused to get married.

Court sent him to jail for 14 days

On Saturday, Mahila Thana police presented the arrested narrator before Special Judge Protima Parihar of POCSO court. Considering the seriousness of the case and the available evidence, the court has ordered to send the accused Shravan Das to jail in judicial custody for 14 days. Along with Shravan Das, Ram Udit Das alias Mouni has also been named accused in this case. Both these accused are originally residents of Parri village of Biraul police station area and were currently living in Ramjanaki temple located in Pachadhi Cantonment of Laheriasarai.

Bail attempts failed

Interestingly, to avoid arrest, Shravan Das had also filed a petition for anticipatory bail in the POCSO court, which was to be heard on January 17. However, due to the demise of a lawyer of the District Bar Association, a condolence meeting was held on the same day and judicial work came to a standstill. While the hearing was being postponed, the police took the opportunity and arrested the accused, due to which his bail plea has now become ineffective. Now he will have to apply for regular bail from inside the jail itself.
