Union Minister G Kishan Reddy expressed strong objection to the statement

After his statement, a series of political reactions have started. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have expressed strong objection to Rahman’s statement, while Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has termed it completely wrong. In the interview, AR Rahman had said that there has been a power shift in the Hindi film industry in the last few years. According to him, the power to take decisions is in the hands of people who are not creative. Rehman indicated that this change may also be related to communal thinking to some extent.

Rahman has received respect from all communities of the country, people never saw him through the prism of religion.

He said that many times information about new projects is received from others and not directly from the manufacturers. Responding to AR Rahman’s statement, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy told a news agency that the music composer’s claim is absolutely false. He clearly said that the decline in AR Rahman’s career has nothing to do with religion. Reddy said that Rehman has received respect from all communities of the country, people never saw him through the lens of religion. According to him it is wrong to say this.

AR Rahman became the leader of a group

Rehman is not getting support in the industry because he is a Muslim. Vinod Bansal, National Spokesperson of Vishva Hindu Parishad, reacted sharply to AR Rahman’s statement. He said that AR Rahman is defaming the entire industry by linking the reason for not getting work to communalism. Rehman now seems to be part of the group whose leader was once former Vice President Hamid Ansari. He said that Rehman has received immense love from the entire country and especially from the Hindu society, but instead of introspecting, he is blaming the system.

Reason for decline in Rahman’s career?

After Tamasha (2015), none of AR Rahman’s music has been memorable for long. The music of Mohenjo Daro, which came after the success of Raanjhanaa, proved to be a flop and was considered old-fashioned. Whereas in OK Jaanu, he repeated his old work, which was good, but was not considered effective. Overall, AR Rahman’s statement is not limited to the film industry only, rather it has become an issue of political debate. All leaders and parties are reacting.
