Doan Nguyen Duc, chairman of agriculture giant Hoang Anh Gia Lai, will give 160 senior employees an apartment each in recognition of their loyalty during the company’s difficult period.
These employees all have more than 10 years of service and worked directly with management to steer the company through an especially challenging period that started in 2016, Duc said at an employee appreciation ceremony on Sunday morning.
The apartments are worth VND2-9 billion (US$76,100-342,500) each and will be subject to a five-year transfer restriction to ensure the awards serve their intended purpose and to encourage long-term commitment from employees.
They are part of the firm’s Phu Dong complex in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai, whose construction started on Sunday.
The development includes a 22-story mixed-use apartment block with 610 units and a 3.5-story commercial building.
Once completed, it is expected to help meet housing demand for middle-income young families and civil servants, with prices of VND20-25 million per square meter.
Duc said HAGL has held the land for more than 15 years and that the project is meant to make use of existing assets rather than to expand into real estate.
HAGL will also give VND800 billion worth of company shares to around 240 employees who have been at the firm for more than 10 years as part of its ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan).
