Foreign Minister Jaishankar meets US MP Steve Dennis, stir amid trade deal

New Delhi, 18 January. Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar and US MP Steve Dennis met in the national capital on Sunday. Jaishankar shared pictures of the meeting on social media platform X. This meeting has increased the excitement regarding the trade agreement between India and America and speculations are being made that some good news will be received soon.

India-US trade talks show signs of progressing rapidly

S. Jaishankar told that there was a discussion with American Senator Steve Dennis about the mutual relations and strategy between India and America. The US Ambassador’s statement that India is the most important partner for America and then the US MP’s meeting with the Indian Foreign Minister indicates that the ongoing trade talks between the two countries are progressing rapidly.

Jaishankar also spoke to US Foreign Secretary Marco Rubio on phone.

In the caption accompanying the pictures on Instagram, Jaishankar wrote, ‘Pleased to meet Senator Steve Dennis in Delhi this morning. There was a frank discussion on our mutual relationship and its strategic importance. Earlier, the Foreign Minister had talked to US Foreign Secretary Marco Rubio over phone. The focus of the talks was cooperation in trade, critical minerals, nuclear energy and defense sectors.

US Ambassador Gore said – Trade talks continue between India and America

Earlier, US Ambassador Sergio Gore had said regarding trade talks between the two countries, ‘Both sides are continuously negotiating actively. In fact, the next talks on trade will take place on Tuesday. India is the largest country in the world, so taking the negotiations to the finish line is not an easy task, but we are determined to reach there. However, trade is very important for our relationship. We will also continue to work together in other very important areas like security, counter terrorism, energy, technology, education and health.

The US Ambassador described India as the most important partner of the US and said, ‘There is no partner more important than India. In the coming months and years, my goal as Ambassador is to accomplish a huge agenda. We will do this as true strategic partners, with each bringing strength, respect and leadership.

Regarding the friendship between PM Modi and President Donald Trump, he said, ‘I can say that President Trump’s friendship with Prime Minister Modi is true. America and India are connected not only by their advantages, but also by relationships built at the highest level. True friends may have different opinions, but always resolve their differences in the end.
