Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said – As long as India continues to follow the path of religion, it will remain ‘Vishwaguru’.

Mumbai. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said that as long as religion continues to guide India, the country will remain a ‘Vishwaguru’. Bhagwat said at an event here that such spiritual knowledge is not found in other parts of the world. He said that religion runs the entire universe and everything works on that principle.

The RSS chief said that India has inherited a rich spiritual heritage from its ancestors and has been receiving guidance from sages and saints. Bhagwat said that religion is not limited to righteousness only and in nature everyone has its own moral duty and discipline. He said that as long as such religion continues to guide India, India will remain ‘Vishwaguru’.

The RSS chief said the world does not have such knowledge because it lacks spirituality. He said, “This is the legacy of our ancestors, which we have got.” Bhagwat said, “Whether it is Narendra Bhai, I am, you or anyone else, the same power is driving all of us. If the vehicle runs with that power, there will never be any accident. That driver is religion.”

Bhagwat emphasized that when the universe was created, the rules governing its functioning became Dharma. Bhagwat said that religion is not limited to righteousness only and in nature everyone has its own moral duty and discipline. Bhagwat said, “The dharma of water is to flow, the dharma of fire is to burn. There is the duty of the son, the duty of the ruler and there are rules of conduct. Our ancestors understood these rules through spiritual research and great efforts.”

He urged to guard against arrogance which could spoil the sacred work being done. “We need to be free from ego,” Bhagwat said. Bhagwat also shared a story of a potter’s donkey who, while carrying an idol, mistakenly believed that the villagers were paying obeisance to him. He said that the donkey started expecting respect and when he asked for respect, he was beaten. Bhagwat said that India has given religion to the world from time to time.

“We have books and speakers, but religion is actually practiced and followed in life,” he said. “Religion is based on truth, and those who consistently live with that truth are sages. It is our duty to provide protection to the sages and maintain their dignity. Even the Prime Minister of our country says that saying no to a sage is an awkward moment for him,” he said.

Explaining the relationship between spiritual and material roles, Bhagwat said that it is a very sacred work, and “we protect only those spiritual persons who are true leaders”. He said, “We are also protectors; we do not lead. Spiritual people are the true leaders. They should be able to do that, and we only protect them. We are the ones guarding the door.”

He said that the state can be secular, but no human being or any creation can be without religion. Bhagwat appealed to the people engaged in service to give up ego and adopt collective spirit. “There are so many people here, and we are all doing good work. Instead of getting stuck in an ‘I’ mentality, we should adopt a ‘we’ mentality,” he said. Bhagwat warned that some people will try to spoil such work, but if you are doing good work, do not expect results, but keep working with good intentions.
