Hours before India received the invitation, Pakistan’s Foreign Office issued a statement saying that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also received an invitation from Trump to join the ‘Board of Peace’. Pakistan has said that it will continue to support international efforts for peace and stability in Gaza.

Which countries and leaders should be invited?

According to sources, prominent global leaders and countries who have been invited to join this board include Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, top leaders of France, Germany, Australia and Canada.

What is ‘Board of Peace’?

According to Reuters and Financial Times reports, in the draft charter sent by the Trump administration to about 60 countries, a condition has been laid down that if any country wants membership of the board for more than three years, it will have to contribute $ 1 billion.

Separate administrative structure for Gaza

Along with the board, two more institutions are also being formed. The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), which will be led by Palestinian technocrat Dr. Ali Shaath. This committee will work on the restoration of public services, civil institutions and normal life in Gaza. The Gaza Executive Board will include representatives from Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, Israel, the UAE and the United Nations.
