Will it be difficult to go home on Holi? Trains are already full, it is difficult to get confirmed tickets

Indian Railway: As the festival of Holi is approaching, the desire to return home is increasing in the minds of people living in other cities. Everyone wants to celebrate the festival of colors with their loved ones, but this time the condition of the Railways seems to be increasing the problems for the passengers.

Usually, the crowd in trains increases 10-15 days before Holi, but this time the situation is completely different. There is still about one and a half month left in the festival, despite this, it has become difficult to get confirmed tickets in mail, express and superfast trains running from Jaipur.

Highest pressure on Uttar Pradesh and Bihar routes (Indian Railways)

According to railway information, the pressure of passengers is highest in trains going to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Assam. Those traveling between February 25 and March 5 are facing a lot of trouble in booking tickets. There are long waiting lists in many trains, from sleeper to third AC. On some routes, online booking has been completely stopped, due to which the worries of the passengers have increased.

Passengers waiting for special trains

Due to not getting confirmed seats in regular trains, passengers’ hopes are now pinned on Holi special trains. However, no concrete announcement about special trains has been made by the Railways till now.

Apart from this, due to fog, the frequency of many trains has been reduced till 28th February, which is putting additional pressure on the existing trains. The situation is expected to worsen in the coming days.

This problem is repeated on every big festival.

Passengers say that similar situations arise every year on big festivals like Holi, Diwali and Chhath. If they do not get confirmed tickets, people are forced to buy expensive Tatkal tickets or are forced to travel by bus and private means.

Passengers suggest that if Railways announces special trains in advance, the crowd during festivals can be controlled to a great extent.

The condition of seats in these trains is very bad

  • Ajmer–Sealdah (Jaipur Route): Tickets full in all categories on 1st and 2nd March
  • Barmer-Guwahati: Heavy waiting in sleeper and third AC on 2nd March
  • Marudhar Express (Varanasi Route): Seats not available on 28th February and 1st March
  • Porbandar–Muzaffarpur (Lucknow Route): Online booking closed on 28th February

  • Thawe Express: No ticket in sleeper and third AC on 28th February
