Kohli’s century in Indore, India lost by 41 runs, New Zealand created history by winning the ODI series.

Indore: The last match of the three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand took place today (January 18) at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. In this match, the Indian team had to face defeat by 41 runs. India had a target of 338 runs to win the match, but its entire team was limited to 296 runs in 46 overs. With this victory, New Zealand captured the ODI series 2-1. New Zealand has won the ODI series in India for the first time.

The first match of the ODI series was played in Vadodara, in which the Indian team won by four wickets. Then the Kiwi team won the Rajkot ODI by seven wickets to level the series 1-1. Now by winning this match, New Zealand won the series.

The Indian team did not have a good start in the chase. Rohit Sharma became the victim of Zakari Foulkes on a personal score of 11 runs. Captain Shubhman Gill (23 runs), who was looking in rhythm, was bowled by Kyle Jameson. After this, Shreyas Iyer was dismissed by Christian Clarke on the score of just 3 runs. KL Rahul, the century-winner of the last match, was a flop in Indore. Rahul scored 1 run and walked on the ball of spinner Jaden Lennox. At the time of Rahul’s dismissal, India’s score was 71/4.

  • After the fall of four wickets, Virat Kohli along with Nitish Kumar Reddy made a partnership of 88 runs for the fifth wicket. During this period, Kohli completed his half-century in 51 balls with the help of 4 fours and one six. Whereas Nitish completed his fifty in 52 balls. However, Nitish could not last long after scoring his half-century. Nitish scored 53 runs on 57 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 2 fours. A big innings was expected from Jadeja, but he walked away after scoring only 12 runs.

    From here there was a partnership of 99 runs for the seventh wicket between Virat Kohli and Harshit Rana. During this partnership, Kohli completed his century in 91 balls, which included 8 fours and two sixes. This was Kohli’s 54th ODI career and 85th international century overall. Harshit Rana completed his half-century with the help of 4 sixes and four fours, but he was out immediately after scoring fifty. Then India lost the wicket of Mohammad Siraj on the very next ball.

    Mitchell-Phillips scored centuries for New Zealand
    New Zealand, after losing the toss and batting first, scored 337 runs for eight wickets. New Zealand had a very bad start and lost 2 wickets till the score of 6 runs. Opener Henry Nicholls (0 runs) was bowled by Arshdeep Singh. Whereas Harshit Rana finished the work of the second opener Devon Conway (5 runs). After 2 wickets fell in seven balls, Daryl Mitchell and Will Young made a partnership of 53 runs, which was broken by Harshit Rana. Young contributed 30 runs before getting out.

    From here Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips made a partnership of 219 runs for the fourth wicket. Mitchell completed his century in 107 balls with the help of 10 fours and 2 sixes. This was Mitchell’s second consecutive ODI century. Earlier, Mitchell had also scored 131* runs in Rajkot ODI. At the same time, Phillips also played big shots after setting his sights. Phillips completed his century in 83 balls, which included 8 fours and three sixes.

    Arshdeep Singh broke this partnership by dismissing Glenn Phillips. Phillips scored 106 runs on 88 balls with the help of 9 fours and three sixes. Then Mohammed Siraj sent Daryl Mitchell to the pavilion. Mitchell scored 137 runs in 131 balls, which included 15 fours and three sixes. Mitchell Hay (2 runs) could not do anything special and was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav.

    The seventh success for the Indian team was given by Arshdeep Singh, who dismissed Zakary Foulkes with an excellent ball. Then Harshit Rana took the wicket of Christian Clarke (11 runs), due to which New Zealand’s score became 327/8. Meanwhile, captain Michael Bracewell (28 runs not out) played some big shots and New Zealand finished on a big score. For India, Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana took three wickets each.

    For this match, left arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was entered in the playing-11 of the Indian team. Arshdeep got a chance in place of right arm fast bowler Prasidh Krishna. On the other hand, New Zealand did not make any changes in its playing-11.
