Rafale will be made in India only; Fighter aircraft manufacturing factory will be set up in Nagpur, Indian companies will get ‘silver’;
Rafale Plant News: French aerospace company Dassault Aviation is preparing to start the largest foreign fighter jet manufacturing program in India so far. This company is going to set up a high capacity production line of Rafale fighter aircraft in Nagpur. 24 Rafale fighter jets will be manufactured here every year.
This plant will not be limited to just final assembly. It is being built as a completely industrialized manufacturing hub. Here the work of Rafale jet will be done from final assembly, system integration, flight testing, delivery.
India will become the second big hub
Dassault’s main Rafale production line is in France. The second big manufacturing center of the company will be the plant to be built in Nagpur. Dassault wants to increase its production capacity in view of the need for 114 additional Rafale proposed by India. When the Nagpur plant runs at full capacity, it will almost double Dassault’s current production capacity.
Large participation of local companies
This construction program will create a large aerospace ecosystem in India. Dozens of Indian companies will be involved in this. These will supply important parts like structure, avionics, composite, wiring, landing gear, mission system. Tata Group has already become an important partner of Dassault. It is making the fuselage section of Rafale. This is the first time that important structural parts of Rafale are being made outside France. Dynamatic, Mahindra Aerospace, L&T and many MSME companies will also be part of this supply chain.

Meaning Indian companies are not just for India. It will supply parts for Rafale jets being manufactured around the world. With this, Indian industry will get experience in technologies like zero defect manufacturing, advanced composite, digital production.
