Netaji’s grandson Chandra Kumar Bose said- SIR process is necessary in Bengal, but it is not being done properly.
Kolkata, 19 January. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s grandson Chandra Kumar Bose, appearing at the hearing related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal, on Monday said the process is ‘important’ but ‘is not being done properly’. Bose had contested the 2016 assembly elections and 2019 Lok Sabha elections on BJP ticket. He termed the particularly intensive vetting of electoral rolls as “harassment” and claimed it lacked clarity.
Bose said he, his wife and daughter appeared for the hearing on January 16 while his two sons, who are abroad, had authorized him to appear on their behalf. “SIR is important, but the way it is being conducted is not appropriate. Common people are being harassed in the name of SIR. I don’t see any reason for conducting it in such a hurry,” he told PTI.
Bose claimed that he and his family members had submitted all the required documents along with their census forms. “Yet we were called for hearing. The reason for this was extremely shocking because polling officials said there was a problem in linking the data. I am not complaining because I was called for the SIR, but because the entire process is disorganized and without any clarity,” he alleged.
Bose claimed, “This is nothing but sheer oppression.” He questioned, “First they said that my name was not found in the voter list of 2002 and later they found my name. Now, after submitting the form with all valid documents, they are claiming that there was a problem in linking. If it is a technical problem, then who is responsible for it?”
