The ban on organizing cricket matches at M Chinnaswamy Stadium has been lifted. The Government of Karnataka has given official approval to Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to organize Indian Premier League (IPL) and International cricket matches in this stadium. This is nothing less than good news for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). After getting the green signal from the Karnataka government, now the RCB team will be seen playing on this ground in IPL 2026.
After RCB’s title win in the last IPL season, there was a huge crowd during the celebration at M Chinnaswi Stadium. Lakhs of fans had gathered outside the stadium. Due to lack of proper security arrangements, a stampede broke out, in which 11 people lost their lives. After this accident, all types of cricket activities were banned in M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The government has lifted this ban after receiving strong assurance from KSCA regarding crowd management and security arrangements.\
