Bundesliga Team of the Week – Matchday 18

Here’s our Bundesliga Team of the Week, highlighting the standout performers from Matchday 18.

With Matchday 18 behind us, Bulinews Editor-in-Chief Rune Gjerulff has selected his Team of the Week, which lines up in a 4-2-2-2 formation:

Goalkeeper:

Moritz Nicolas, Borussia Mönchengladbach

Had a strong game between the posts, making an incredible 12 saves to secure a hard-earned clean sheet for Gladbach against Hamburger SV.

Defenders:

Yukinari Sugawara, Werder Bremen

A tireless presence on the right flank, Sugawara provided an assist, completed two dribbles and won four duels in Werder Bremen’s thrilling 3–3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Jonathan Tah, FC Bayern

Rock solid at the back in Bayern’s 5-1 victory over RB Leipzig, Tah completed an impressive 96 percent of his passes, registered eight clearances and won two duels.

Moritz Jenz, Wolfsburg

A commanding display from the Wolfsburg centre-back, who won an outstanding 11 duels and capped his performance by scoring his side’s only goal.

Alessio Castro-Montes, 1. FC Cologne

Highly influential going forward, Castro-Montes created four key passes including a superb assist and also won four duels in Köln’s 2–1 win over Mainz.

Midfielders:

Jens Stage, Werder Bremen

Scored a well-taken goal and produced three key passes in Werder’s dramatic draw with Frankfurt.

Eric Smith, FC St. Pauli

Pulled the strings in midfield for St. Pauli, producing four key passes, two of which resulted in assists.

Michael Olise, FC Bayern

A game-changer off the bench, Olise scored once and delivered three assists to transform Bayern’s performance against Leipzig and steer them to victory.

Karim Adeyemi, Borussia Dortmund

A constant menace in Dortmund’s 3-2 win over St. Pauli, Adeyemi scored, assisted and completed three dribbles.

Strikers:

Harry Kane, FC Bayern

Often dropping deep to link play, Kane created two key chances and netted the decisive goal in Bayern’s win over RB Leipzig.

Ragnar Ache, 1. FC Cologne

Clinical in front of goal, Ache scored both goals to power Köln to a crucial 2-1 victory over Mainz.
