The company is planning to introduce VinFast VF5 as a budget-friendly electric hatchback. In the global market, this car falls in the segment between VF3 and VF6 SUVs. As soon as it is launched in India, it is expected to compete directly with Tata Tiago EV and Tata Punch EV. The special thing is that VF5 will target those customers who want the experience of a premium electric car in a limited budget.

Strength in battery, power and range

In the international market VinFast VF5 is available with two battery options 29.6kWh and 37.23kWh. The smaller battery pack offers a power of 95hp and a range of about 268 kilometers (NEDC), while the larger battery variant offers a power of 136hp and a range of up to 326 kilometers. There is still suspense on which variant will come to India, but it is expected that it will give balanced performance as per daily needs.

hatchback, but looks like SUV

In terms of design, VF5 proves itself to be different from common hatchbacks. The muscular wheel arches, black body cladding and the tall stance give it an SUV-like feel. Its length is 3,967 mm, which is about 110 mm more than the Tata Punch EV. This provides better legroom in the cabin. It has a boot space of 260 liters, which can be increased to 900 liters by folding the seats.

Premium interior and smart features

The interior of the VinFast VF5 is modern and driver-focused. It has features like 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, leatherette seat cover, 4-speaker sound system, PM2.5 air filter and keyless entry. The all-black theme and silver highlights give it a premium touch.

According to auto experts, the starting price of VinFast VF5 in India can be around Rs 12 lakh. In this range, it can give tough competition to the top variants of Tata Punch EV and Tiago EV.
