Schools will remain closed in this district of UP on 20th, know what is the situation in which state today

New Delhi: After the long winter vacation and severe cold, school studies have now started again in most parts of the country. However, due to local conditions in some states and districts, schools are still temporarily closed or their timings have been changed. Due to the cold wave, schools were closed for a few days in many states. From Monday, January 19, schools have reopened in most states and regular classes have started. However, holiday is still given at some places due to weather, crowd or administrative reasons.

Uttar Pradesh: Holiday in Prayagraj till January 20

Due to Magh Mela, a large number of devotees are arriving in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh. In view of this crowd, the district administration has decided to keep the school closed till January 20. This holiday is applicable only for schools from class 1 to 8. Students of class 9 and above will have to go to school.

Schools in the rest of the districts of the state have opened from January 19, but keeping in mind the cold, school timings have been changed at many places. Schools in Noida are running from 10 am to 3 pm. In cities like Agra, Varanasi, Kanpur and Lucknow, school timings have also been extended so that children can be protected from the morning cold.

Maharashtra: Schools closed in some areas of Pune

School holiday has been declared in some areas on January 20 in Pune district of Maharashtra. An international cycle race named “Pune Grand Tour 2026” is being organized here. Due to this event, schools on the routes through which the race will pass have been kept closed due to security and traffic arrangements. This holiday is applicable to schools in Pimpri-Chinchwad and Hinjewadi areas.

Delhi-NCR: Schools will remain open

There is confusion regarding schools in Delhi-NCR because Grape-4 has been implemented here. In view of the increasing pollution, many restrictions have been imposed and schools have been advised to run in hybrid mode. However, till now no official order has been issued by the Delhi government regarding closing of schools or making them online. Therefore, at present schools in Delhi-NCR will remain open normally.

School timings changed in many states

In view of the cold, the Punjab government has changed the timing of schools till January 21, 2026. Primary schools will run from 10 am to 3 pm. Middle and senior schools will be dismissed at 3:30 pm. Apart from this, schools have been fully opened in states like Haryana, Bihar, Rajasthan and Jharkhand and studies are going on normally there.
